Immigration Officers intercept firearms at Lagos Airport

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos Command this morning intercepted an American citizen with firearms at the airport.

The male passenger whose name was not given arrived the country aboard a United Airlines flight from Houston, United States at 10:10am where he was said to have checked-in the firearms.

According to investigation, the passenger had two international passports; Nigerian and American.

A security official who did not want his name mentioned told Radio Nigeria, that the American citizen did not declare the firearms as stipulated in international laws on firearms carriage.

He said, the passenger had some documents from the U.S, which allowed him to carry firearms but the authenticity of the papers could not be ascertained.

Currently, the passenger is being questioned at the immigration office and would be handed over to the appropriate security agencies for further investigation and interrogation.
