Immigration Officers Launch Anti- Corruption Drive, Pledge Improved Service Delivery Nationwide

Officers and men of the Nigerian Immigration Service have been urged to shun corruption and other negative vices in order to uphold the integrity of the Service and enhance public trust.

The call was made by the Assistant Comptroller General, Zone A, Mohammed Adamu, during the 4th Quarter Nationwide Sensitisation Campaign against corruption and for enhanced service delivery, held at the Ikoyi Passport Office.

The three-day campaign commenced in Zone A, Ikeja, moved through Alausa, and concluded in Ikoyi.

Immigration officers engaged the public by distributing flyers and sensitising citizens on the dangers of corruption and the need for ethical conduct.

ACG Adamu stressed that corruption remains a major cause of many societal challenges confronting Nigeria, urging officers to remain disciplined and conduct themselves as worthy assets to the nation.

He also commended the Comptroller General of Immigration, Nana Nandap, for introducing innovative reforms, encouraging officers to emulate her leadership and commitment to transparency.

Speaking at the event, the Passport Control Officer, Ikoyi, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Jemi Ojo, noted that overcoming corruption and other vices requires collective responsibility and collaboration.

He added that ongoing reforms within the Service were already yielding results in combating corruption and improving service delivery.

The Special Assistant to the Principal Staff Officer to the Comptroller General inaugurated members of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, reaffirming the Service’s resolve to institutionalise accountability.

In a lecture titled “Innovation for Transparency and Efficiency: Strengthening Service Delivery through Reforms and Combating Corruption,” Chief Superintendent of Immigration Tersoo Ukeyima emphasised that Nigerians deserve quality service marked by responsiveness, accountability and transparency.

The sensitisation programme attracted senior officers from sister security agencies, retired officers and key stakeholders, who joined immigration personnel in chanting key anti-corruption messages to reinforce the campaign’s objectives.
