JAMB Approves Admission for 85 Underage Candidates After Screening

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 85 underage candidates who successfully completed the Board’s comprehensive screening process for exceptional admission.

A statement by JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, explained that the policy of exceptional admission aligns with global best practices, treating such cases as rare exceptions rather than the norm.

According to the statement, in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), 41,027 of the 2,031,133 applicants sought consideration under this special category.

Out of these, 599 candidates scored at least 80% in the UTME.

Following further scrutiny involving school certificate verification and Post-UTME screening, 182 candidates emerged, out of which 85 were found qualified after interviews and final verification.

JAMB advised any of the 182 finalists who missed the final interview due to valid reasons to submit a formal request through the JAMB Support Ticketing System under the “2025 Underage Complaint” category for review.

Additionally, candidates who scored 320 and above but failed to upload their O-Level results are given a two-week window to do so and notify the Board via the ticketing system.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining credibility, transparency, and inclusiveness in the admission process while upholding the integrity of Nigeria’s academic standards.
