‎Jonathan Reflects on Betrayal in Nigerian Politics

...”I witnessed a lot of betrayal during the 2015 elections”. Goodluck Jonathan.

‎Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that betrayal remains a dominant feature of Nigerian politics, recalling his own experience during the 2015 general elections.

‎Dr. Jonathan made the remark in Benin City at the 70th birthday celebration of his former Chief of Staff, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe.

‎According to the former President, most politicians in the country are unreliable, often changing positions to suit circumstances.

‎He said, “Politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals. I witnessed a lot of betrayal during the 2015 elections. You will hardly find someone who will say the same thing in the morning, afternoon, and evening.”

‎Jonathan, however, described Chief Oghiadomhe as an exception, stressing that he is a dependable ally who remained loyal and trustworthy.

‎The former President added that Oghiadomhe was a man whose word could be trusted and one who would stand firmly for his associates.

‎Chief Oghiadomhe, a former deputy governor of Edo State, also served as Jonathan’s Chief of Staff between 2010 and 2014.
