Kano: One Dead, One Rescued in Separate Well Accidents

A 50-year-old man, Salisu Musa, has been confirmed dead after falling into a well in Gora Village, Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, the victim, believed to be mentally unstable, reportedly ran into a bush before falling into the well.

Despite calls for help, he could not be rescued in time. He was later recovered by the Fire Service rescue team and confirmed dead.

His body was handed over to the police for further investigation.

In a separate incident, the Fire Service successfully rescued a 37-year-old woman, Maryam Biya, who also fell into a well along France Road in Fagge Local Government Area.

A concerned citizen, Joseph Pitter, alerted authorities, leading to a prompt rescue operation.

Maryam was taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment and later handed over to police officials.

PRO Saminu Yusif praised the swift response of emergency teams and urged residents to take preventive measures around open wells to avoid further tragedies.
