Alimosho leads Domestic and Sexual Violence chart as Lagos marks Awareness Month

The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, has launched the 2022 awareness month of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.

At a news briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, Mr. Onigbanjo said September had been designated the awareness month and that the colour for the period would be purple.

He said the awareness month hoped to let people know that about the danger in domestic and sexual violence and that survivors should be bold to speak up.

On the work of the agency in the last one year, Mr Onigbanjo said four thousand eight hundred and sixty cases were reported and handled. 

Mr Onigbanjo said the five leading council areas for sexual and domestic violence cases involving adults were Alimosho, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Eti-Osa, and Oshodi-Isolo, while cases involving children were also high in Alimosho, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Ikorodu and Ifako-Ijaiye councils.

He said more than one hundred and fifty convictions had been recorded till date.
