The Lagos State Parastatal Monitoring Office (PMO) is set to launch a pilot verification exercise for pensioners in parastatals, agencies, and government-owned companies that operate with independent recruitment powers within the state’s civil service structure.
This initiative, announced as a proactive measure, aims to enhance transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in pension administration—particularly in data updating and payment processes.
The Permanent Secretary of the PMO, Mrs. Adetutu Ososanya, disclosed this on Thursday during the ongoing ministerial press briefing marking the second anniversary of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office, held at Alausa, Ikeja.
She noted that in the past year, the PMO conducted 36 working tours and on-the-spot assessments of various parastatals, agencies, and state-owned companies to evaluate their operational challenges and offer solutions geared toward improved service delivery. These efforts align with the administration’s THEMES+ development agenda.
To further drive compliance with government financial guidelines and promote accountability, Mrs. Ososanya added that the PMO has been conducting routine inspections and evaluations of the operational and financial records of these institutions.
She also emphasized that the legal frameworks guiding the operations of the 102 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state civil service have been periodically reviewed over the past year to align with modern governance standards.
The pilot verification of pensioners is expected to serve as a model for broader reforms in the state’s pension management and oversight systems.
