The Board Secretary of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB), Dr Gbolabo Okudero, has marked his one year in office, pledging enhanced support and improved welfare for pilgrims.

Speaking during a media roundtable held at the Board’s headquarters in Ikeja, Okudero described the success of the 2025 pilgrimage to Jordan and Israel as a reflection of divine grace and strong backing from the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He noted that the safe return of pilgrims ahead of the Middle East crisis underscored what he described as God’s unfailing mercies, while appreciating key stakeholders for their support.
Among those acknowledged were the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Adewunmi Ogunsanya, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Rev Bukola Adeleke.
He also commended the Board Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Professor Steven Adegbite, for his contributions to the success of the pilgrimage exercise.
Okudero reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with media organisations, community leaders, and Christian groups to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience.
He added that plans are underway to expand outreach programmes and improve service delivery for Christian communities in Lagos State.
Emphasising the spiritual significance of pilgrimage, he urged intending pilgrims to approach the exercise as a sacred journey of reflection and growth, rather than mere tourism.
The event was attended by top management staff of the Board and representatives of partner media organisations.
