Lagos Police Arraign 60-Year-Old for Drugging, Raping 24 Year Old Woman

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a 60-year-old man, Mr. Ajayi Femi, over the alleged drugging and rape of a 24-year-old woman in the Meiran area of Lagos.

According to the Command, the incident occurred on August 22, 2025, and was reported the same day by the survivor’s sister at the Meiran Police Station.

The case was later transferred to the Command’s Gender Unit for a discreet investigation.

Findings revealed that the suspect allegedly spiked the victim’s drink, rendering her unconscious, before sexually assaulting her without consent.

Medical examinations conducted during the investigation corroborated the allegations, and the suspect reportedly gave a confessional statement.

Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the suspect has been charged to court and remanded in prison custody, pending the next adjourned hearing.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured Lagos residents of the Command’s determination to ensure justice for survivors of sexual offences.

He urged members of the public to promptly report cases of sexual violence at the Family Support Units located in police divisions and area commands across the state for swift intervention and prosecution.

This development aligns with ongoing government efforts to combat gender-based violence (GBV) and strengthen support systems for survivors.

Authorities reiterated that addressing sexual offences remains a national priority, with multi-agency collaboration aimed at creating safer communities and ensuring perpetrators face the full weight of the law.
