The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a 39-year-old man, Best Orji, for allegedly defiling his two daughters, aged 14 and 12.
According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the case was reported by the victims’ mother in the Surulere area of Lagos. Following the report, the suspect—who is also the biological father of the victims—was taken into custody. The children were subsequently examined at a Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC).
SP Hundeyin reiterated the Command’s commitment to fighting all forms of sexual and gender-based violence, noting that efforts to protect vulnerable members of society remain a top priority under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.
He further encouraged residents to promptly report any suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities.
In a related development, the Command is also investigating a separate case involving the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in the Amukoko area of Lagos.
Police reports indicate that the incident occurred on April 27, 2025. The survivor reported that she had been invited by an individual identified as Kalid from her home in Orile to Yusuf Esan Street in Amukoko. Upon arrival, she was allegedly assaulted by Kalid and seven other individuals.
A police team was immediately dispatched to the location, leading to the arrest of three suspects: Awali Alabi, 20; Saliu Anafi, 18; and Basit Nurudeen, 16. The remaining suspects reportedly fled the scene and are currently being sought.
The teenager was taken to the General Hospital in Suru-Alaba for medical attention, while the arrested suspects are said to be cooperating with the investigation.
The Lagos State Police Command emphasized its ongoing efforts to bring all those involved to justice and continues to call on the public to assist with relevant information that may aid in the arrest of the fleeing suspects.
