Lagos Police Rescue Four Abducted Children, Hunt Female Suspect

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have rescued four children allegedly kidnapped in Lagos and reunited them with their families following a late-night patrol operation at Alafia Bus Terminal in the Coker-Orile area of the state.

The rescue operation was reportedly carried out in line with directives from the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, to intensify efforts against crimes involving children and other vulnerable persons.

Police authorities disclosed that the incident occurred on May 8, 2026, at about 11:40 p.m., when patrol officers conducting routine surveillance around Alafia Bus Terminal noticed four children in the company of an unidentified woman preparing to board a luxury bus leaving Lagos.

According to the police, the woman allegedly abandoned the children and fled immediately after spotting security operatives in the area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were allegedly abducted from the Ijesha-Tedo area of Lagos and were being transported out of the state under the cover of darkness before police officers intervened.

The children were later taken into protective custody while efforts were initiated to locate and contact their families.

The command confirmed that all four children have now been safely reunited with their parents, while investigations continue to identify and arrest the fleeing suspect and uncover possible accomplices linked to the alleged abduction.

The Commissioner of Police commended the vigilance and professionalism displayed by the patrol officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos State.

He also advised parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the safety and movement of their children and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities involving minors to the nearest police station or relevant security agencies.
