The Lagos State Government has released a comprehensive traffic management plan ahead of the rehabilitation of Sections 2 and 3 of the Lekki–Epe Expressway, scheduled to commence on January 25.
The plan was unveiled following an on-site inspection of the rehabilitation corridor by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr Sola Giwa; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Mr Olufemi Daramola.
Mr Daramola explained that the rehabilitation of both carriageways, initially planned for December last year, was postponed due to increased end-of-year activities and traffic volumes.
He said the latest inspection was conducted to reassess the scope of work and ensure proper alignment between construction activities and traffic management strategies.
Speaking on the traffic plan, Mr Osiyemi said construction would be executed on an intersection-by-intersection basis rather than across the entire corridor at once, in order to minimise disruption to traffic flow.
He added that construction work would run both day and night to meet project timelines, while adequate traffic management personnel would be deployed to oversee sectional road closures and contraflow operations, with special attention given to peak traffic periods.
The state government urged motorists and residents to cooperate with traffic officials during the rehabilitation period to ensure safety and smoother traffic movement along the corridor.
