Lagos Rolls out Eleven-Day Inauguration Activities

In Lagos State, a number of activities spanning eleven days, have been outlined for the inauguration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat for a second term in office.

Announcing this at a news briefing in Alausa, Ikeja, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, and Chairman, Media Subcommittee of Governor Sanwo-Olu and Obafemi Hamzat second term Inauguration ceremonies, Mr Gbenga Omotoso stated that the activities would commence on May 21 with a Youth Carnival and Robotic competition.

According to Mr Omotoso, People Living with Disability will participate in the events. which will hold simultaneously at ten in the morning in all the Lagos divisions of Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.

He said Day 2 would feature a Public lecture to be delivered by Professor Adigun Agbaje, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan on “THE MAKING OF A BEACON- LAGOS AND THE CONSOLIDATION OF A DEMOCRACY THAT WORKS FOR ALL” as well as a
Book launch and Photo Exhibition

On day three, four and five, the Commissinner said projects completed by the Sanwo-Olu’s administration would be inaugurated in Ajeromi/Ifelodun, Alimosho,
Ikeja, Kosofe, Eti-Osa, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland and Surulere

On the sixth day, which is Children’s Day, a Novelty Match would be held in the five Lagos divisions, while pre inauguration rehearsals would take place on day seven, May, 28 and after Inauguration Day, Mr Omotoso explained that the activities would continue with Post inauguration Jummat Thanksgiving service accross Lagos, while similar services would also be held in Churches the following Sunday.

On the tenth Day, the Commissioner announced that a Cultural display at Mobolaji Johnson Sport Arena, Onikan, Lagos would be held, while the activities would be rounded off with an inauguration dinner on Victoria Island.

Mr Omotoso promised that adequate arrangements have been made for safety, security, traffic management as well as the entertainment of Lagosians during the line up of activities.

“This inauguration is important to us in the State as it is a celebration of A Greater Lagos Rising! All hands are on deck to give Lagosians and friends of Lagos a wonderful inauguration experience” he said.

The pre inauguration news briefing was attended by all members of the media sub Committee, including the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Seye Oladejo.
