Lagos state government slashes transportation fare to minimise current economic hardship

The Lagos State Governor, Mr.Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has slashed transportation fare in the state-owned transport system by 50 per cent to cushion the effect of the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

The Governor also hinted of a plan by commercial transporters to slash prices by 25 per cent across the metropolis in solidarity with government.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who announced this today in an interview with newsmen after the State Security Council Meeting held at the State House, Ikeja, explained that all transportation vehicles belong to the Lagos
Area Metropolitan Transport Authority, LAMATA, would from Wednesday, this week, slashed their fares by 50 per cent and expressed optimism that this would help to lessen people’s burden.

The Governor who also pledged more buses for civil servants to aide their movement and reduced their cost of transportation, said his administration would continue to support security agencies in the State with logistics to effectively discharge their duties.
