Lagos State Government Fixes CCTV Cameras in Schools

The Lagos State government says tthe installation of CCTV cameras in all public schools across the state is underway

This is part of the government’s efforts at keeping its schools safe in the face of security challenges in the society.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made this known in a message to the 2024 Children’s Day celebration in Lagos held at the Police College, Ikeja.

Represented by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Mr. Sanwo-Olu said that the safety of lives and property had always been of great concern to the government and as such would not leave any stone unturned in its quest at ensuring that every resident of the state was safe at all times.

He said that apart from ensuring that all public schools in the state were well secured with fences, the government was also working closely with security agencies to keep the students and their teachers safe in the schools.

He stressed that the installation of CCTV cameras in the public schools would also help the government to monitor strange activities that could threaten the safety of students and teachers within and around the school Premises.

Governor Sanwo-Olutha also mentioned that the government has built more schools in the state to get more out of school children back to school.

In a welcome address, the Commissoner, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun urged the children to continue to challenge themselves to be respectable individuals in the society.

He advised them to excel both in academic and co-curricular activities in order to stand out among their peers in the nearest future.

Mr. Alli Balogun also took out time to commend teachers in Lagos state for their selfless service and commitment to duty as they impact the required knowledge in their students.

The highlight of the event was a symbolic registration of Nursery and primary one pupils to public schools in Lagos State by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat on behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu.
