Lagos State Govt Applauds FG’s Support In Health Sector

The Lagos State Government has expressed great appreciation to the Federal government for supporting the state in the provision of modern health facilities that will improve its health delivery to the people.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed the appreciation in Ikeja at the inauguration of some Medical Infrastructure built within the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH by the Federal government through the Office of the Sustainable Development Goals, Abuja.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Governor Sanwo-Olu said that with the modern facilities which include a One Hundred and Twenty bed Multipurpose building, an Ambulance Bay, Resident Doctors’ Quarters and Special Services Centers among others would go a long way at improving health delivery in the teaching hospital.

He stressed that the Resident Doctors’ Quarters and the renovated House Offucers’ Quaters would further attend to the welfare of health workers in the hospital.

In a contribution, the Senior Special Assistant On Sustainable Development Goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire said that the new modern health facilities were also well equiped to render services to some rich individuals that prefer to visit expensive private hospitals for treatment.

She explined that the new hospital had adequate facilities that would afford those that desired absolute privacy in public hospitals the opportunity to be attended to away from the glare of the public.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi expressed the confidence that the facilities would go a long way at addressing the pronlem of brain drain in the state public hospitals.

On his part, the Chief Medical Director, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo said that the health facilities provided would support LASUTH in tackling the
shortage of some health facilities particularly, the “No Bed Space” syndrome in LASUTH.

He stressed that apart from the One Hundred and Twenty bed Multipurpose building, there were other facilities now available in the teaching hospital to meet the health needs of every Nigerian living in Lagos state.
