Lagos to Establish Tertiary Education Trust Fund – Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the state will soon establish a Lagos State Tertiary Education Trust Fund to create a sustainable model and guarantee a smooth running of the three state universities.

The governor stated this on Thursday when he received the three hundred and twenty-two-page report of the Lagos State University Visitation Panel led by Professor Abdulrahman Bello at the Lagos House, Marina.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the visitation panel had done a thorough job with LASU and had reported that the institution was hale, sound and healthy, which reflected in its ranking as the second ranked university in Nigeria.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the issues raised by the panel about LASU Epe Campus would be resolved without delay and that a White Panel would be set up in the next seven days to come up with a white paper for the government.

He called on the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to find a middle ground to end the lecturer’s strike since February 14.

The Chairman of the LASU Visitation Panel, Professor Abdulrahman Bello said the recommendations were many and mainly to improve on existing initiatives by the management.

The LASU Visitation was established on the 16th of November, 2021.
