Lagosians and Employers of Labour Urged to Support Youths Corps members

Employers of Labour and people of Lagos State have been asked to receive National Youths Corps members posted to their dormains with arms of love and care as they undergo their one year mandatory National service in the state.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the call in a message to the closing of the Orientation course for the 2024 Batch “A” stream two Corps members posted to Lagos State.

Represented by the Director, General Services, Lagos State Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Ibukun Dosunmu, Governor Sanwo-Olu asked employers of Labour not to reject Corps members posted to their organizations so as to enable them to settle down to work on time.

While he assured the Corps members of a conducive environment in Lagos State, the governor urged them to live at peace with those that they would be mingling with in their host communities.

Governor Sanwo-Olu appealed to the Corps members to respect the Culture and traditions of their host community and.ensure that they contributed meaningfully to the social and economic development of the communities.

In an opening address, the Lagos State Coordinator, National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa advised the Corps members to obey the rules and regulations of the NYSC as erring corps members would be punished in line with the NYSC bye laws.

She urged the Corps members to set aside tribal sentiments as they set out to their primary places of assignment and be their brother’s keeper as mandated by the Scheme.

Mrs. Baderinwa warned the Corps members against unauthorized travels and night journeys.

Commendation certificates were later presented to Corps Members and staff of NYSC that performed exceptionally well during the three weeks orientation course.

The Corps members however , expressed their appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu in a three hearty cheers.
