Lagosians face hardship with hike in water, consumables

Some residents of Lagos State have decried the incessant increase in the prices of bread, sachet water and other consumables.

The concerned residents maintained that the rising cost of these consumables was taking a toll on the welfare of most families especially the low income earners.

They explained that a sachet of water was now being sold above twenty naira, while a loaf of bread has risen from five hundred to seven hundred naira.

“The prices of everything in the country has skyrocketed, we buy a bag for one hundred and fifty naira before now, we now buy one bag of twenty piece of sachet water for two hundred and fifty naira, this is too much”.

“Even bread that we buy for three hundred and fifty naira is now sold for five hundred to seven hundred naira, it is affecting many homes as we find it hard to feed our children”.

They however attributed the high cost of the commodities to rise in the prices of diesel and other production materials, appealed to relevant stakeholders to find lasting solution to the continuous hike of these consumables.
