The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, has attributed the many fire incidents and accidents in the state to majorly human factors.
While featuring on RadioOne Breakfast show, This Morning, Dr Oke-Osanyintolu said most fire incidents in the last two weeks were as a result of power surge and other electrical issues.
The LASEMA Boss cautioned residents against leaving their homes, offices, shops and other places without switching off all electrical appliances, saying the harmattan season also fuel fire during any spark.
“The problem is our people, most of this accidents and fire incidents are avoidable, some people will leave home their air conditioning is on, most electrical appliances are on, so people should be responsible for their own safety, switch off all appliances, government is doing its own beat by buying equipment, we should know safety is everyone responsible, the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu prioritizes safety, protection of lives and property that is why in Lagos we have Safety Commission, Fire and Rescue Services, and other first responders to collaborate due emergenciesr”.
Dr Oke-Osanyintolu while speaking on the incessant accident on Otedola bridge along Lagos Ibadan expressway, claimed that rickety vehicles and reckless driving were mostly responsible and urged drivers to always put their vehicles in order before embarking on any trip.
