The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has rescued the driver of a Mack truck conveying a 40-foot container who was involved in a lone accident at Odonguyan First Gate, Ikorodu in the early hours of today.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the truck rolled backward and fell, leaving the container overturned and trapping the driver’s arm, obstructing about 75% of the roadway.
Dr Oke-Osanyintolu said the Agency’s crane, known as Charlie, in coordination with other stakeholders including Ministry of Transport responders was used to right-turned the container and successfully rescued the driver.
According to him, the driver was transferred to the hospital with his arm attached for further treatment.
Meanwhile, traffic diversion was put in place, and recovery operations using the Agency’s heavy-duty equipment are ongoing.
