LASG Pays 5 Hundred Million Naira Compensation To Ikorodu Residents

A total of five hundred million naira has been paid by the Lagos State government as compensation to seventy-two residents of Ikorodu whose property were affected by the construction of Igbogbo-Baiyeku -Bola Ahmed Tinubu road in Ikorodu.

The compensation ranges from one point eight million naira to over twenty million naira per beneficiary.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu handed over the cheques to the affected persons at a ceremony in the Ikorodu Town hall.

The Governor who was on a working visit also handed over the Ikorodu youth centre and pledged that his administration would construct more people oriented projects in the Ikorodu community.

He reassured the residents that construction work on the thirty seven kilometers 4th mainland bridge would commence before the end of the second quarter of this year, while rehabilitation of the phase two of the Gberigbe Ijede road would commence next week.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also charged Local government Chairmen in the area not to shirk their responsibilities

Some of those who were compensated noted that the payment had been long overdue since 2017, but however applauded Governor Sanwo-olu for answering them, while those who are yet to be compensated appealed passionately to the state government not to forget them

The Chairman of Ikorodu Local government, Mr Wasiu Adesina who thanked the Governor on behalf of the residents for transforming the state into an economic hub, among others, assured that the six Chairmen in the area would continue to work with stakeholders and security agencies for a crime free Lagos.
