LASG Seeks Investments & Partnership With Nordic Countries

The Lagos State Government has expressed delight at the investments and further interest of the Nordic Countries in the State.

The Nordic countries are a region in Northern Europe and North Atlantis, including Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Noway and Iceland.

In a remark in Victoria Island during the opening of a two-day “NORDIC-NIGERIA Connect High power conference on smart City Solutions and Circular Economy, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu told participants that the State is open to more investments, especially in the areas of transportation, waste management, housing, access to healthcare and education, jobs and in other challenging areas confronting a growing mega city as Lagos and
the impact of climate change.

“The overall message for you, our guests, and all participants in this Conference, is that Lagos is open for collaboration and investment. We have the talent and expertise, we have the financial markets, we have the demographics to support your business cases and plans, we have massive opportunities for the rollout of low-carbon infrastructure and solutions, and we have the political will, as a government, to ensure that your ideas and investments take root and thrive” he said

Governor Sanwo-Olu outlined what his administration had been doing to meet the challenges, including support for start up businesses, innovation in waste management, finance, and the creation of an enabling environment, especially in the ease of doing business.

In their remarks, Ministers from the Nordic Countries stated their Countries willingness to further collaborate with Lagos in Human Development, Recycling and Waste Management, Green Transport solutions, among others.

The Nordic Countries have recorded advancement in the circular economy, environmental sustainability, net-to-zero-carbon future and share similarities with Lagos in the areas of small land mass and large water bodies.

From the Nordic Conference, Governor Sanwo-Olu also attended the 2nd Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition at the same venue.
