The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC has officially presented certificates of return to elected chairmen, vice chairmen, and councillors from the just-concluded local government election, held in the State.
In a ceremony described as the hallmark of democratic culture, LASIEC Chairman, Retired Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile, commended the electorate, stakeholders, and over forty five thousand ad-hoc staff, for their active participation and dedication throughout the electoral process.
Justice Okikiolu-Ighile acknowledged initial accreditation delays, and praised the swift and effective support of security agencies across the state.
The LASIEC Boss affirmed that the new officials’ tenure will begin, as the current administration concludes on the twenty-sixth of this month.
The chairman-elect of Agege Local Government, Mr. Tony Azeez, was called up first due to an urgent health matter, with LASIEC emphasizing the importance of health in leadership responsibility.
Meanwhile, the incoming chairman of Ajeromi Local Government, Mr. Olalekan Akindipe, has pledged to build on the achievements of the current chairman in Local Government, emphasizing continuity and accountability in his development blueprint.
At the presentation of certificates of return to Chairmen and Counselors, he revealed plans to tackle food insecurity by launching a subsidized food distribution initiative, “Ounje Ajegunle,” to reach every ward weekly.
Addressing key challenges, he cited security and poor road networks, promising to sustain the annual security summit and ensure all roads, linked or not, are fully tarred.
Mr. Olalekan Akindipe reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance that prioritizes the welfare of all Ajeromi residents over partisan politics.
