LASTMA Hunts For Attackers Of Its Personnel At Ojota

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has accused some members of the Tricycle (Keke) Owners Association for the injurious attacks on some of its officials while on official duty at Ojota.

In a Statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, the officers were attacked with dangerous weapons including cutlasses, iron, broken bottles, and local charms which prompted them to abandon their duty posts after one of them was seriously injured.

” They robbed the officers of their money, cellphones and wristwatches”
Mr. Taofiq stated that one of the Officers, Oguntimehin Ajibola, was injured in his left eye with broken bottles by the attackers.

“The victim, Akinola is currently on admission at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja”

He Said that preliminary investigation revealed that members of the Tricycle (Keke) Owners Association, Ojota Branch, numbering about twenty were responsible for the attack after they were informed that the Toyota Camry FKJ 161 HB of their newly elected Chairman, known as ‘Henro’ was impounded for illegal diversion.

Taofiq said the General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba has reported at Area ‘H’ Command of the Nigeria Police at Ogudu while efforts are on to identify and arrest all those who took part in the unwarranted attack.

“We are searching for the attackers with information gathered so far by our intelligence unit. We will ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law”, he stated.
