The Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH in Ikorodu has matriculated over two thousand new students for the 2025/2026 academic session, with a call on the students to shun cultism, drug abuse, inappropriate dressing and other social vices capable of jeopardizing their future.

Vice Chancellor of LASUSTECH, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya, gave the advice at 2025/2026 matriculation held today at the Ikorodu campus of the school.
Professor Odusanya in his speech titled, “Create Your Future”, urged the students to be innovative and make good use of the digital space to be a problem solver, for the country.

The VC reminded the students that every action has a consequence, hence the need for them to be punctual and desist from wrong associations, noting that degree acquisition alone was not enough to create the future needed to be successful in life.
“In your journey through life, creating your future demands you are fully conscious that every action has its own consequences.

Therefore, you must avoid the things that will not create that future.
Thus, negative vices such as cultism,
Indecent dressing, absenteeism, use of illicit drugs and wrong associations must not be part of your lifestyle.
Rather, you must commit yourself and be fully
immersed in your academic study” VC said
“Be punctual to classes, noting that attendance is a pre-requisite to admission to the examinations.
Practice makes perfect therefore, face your practical classes, studio and workshop sessions seriously.
You belong to a community, so don’t be a loner.
Make good friends, stay in touch, let your parents know where you are, so we can trace you easily.
Creating your future demands you look beyond the degree to be received” Prof Odusanya emphasized
The students while taking their matriculation oaths, promised to abide by the rules and regulations of the University, and to excel in their academic pursuit.
LASUSTECH which was established by Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu in 2022 now has thirty-four courses in five Colleges of Basic Science, Applied Social Science, Agriculture, Engineering and Technology as well as Environmental Design and Technology.
