— Promotes hygiene, safety, and environmental awareness among pupils
In a move to promote environmental sustainability and health consciousness in schools, the Eko Centennial Lions Club has donated first aid boxes and waste bins to five primary schools in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The beneficiary schools include Methodist Primary School, Oga Primary School, Ayangburen Primary School, Muslim Primary School, and African Bethel Primary School.
The gesture, which marked the commencement of the new Lions service year on July 1, is part of the club’s commitment to community-focused projects that promote well-being and environmental awareness.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, President of the Eko Centennial Lions Club, Lion Kehinde Mustapha, stressed the need for a clean and safe learning environment, noting that the donation was aligned with the Lions Clubs International’s global campaign for public health and environmental sustainability.
“As we begin a new Lions year, we are focusing on projects that directly impact the well-being of our communities,” she said. “By providing waste bins, we are encouraging proper waste disposal and hygiene among pupils, and with the first aid boxes, we aim to improve emergency response to minor injuries within school premises.”
Also speaking at the event, the Education Secretary of Ikorodu Local Government, Mr. Odumbo Abiodun, lauded the Lions Club for supporting the government in enhancing educational standards and promoting health in public schools.
“We appreciate the Eko Centennial Lions Club for this kind gesture. It’s not about having millions before giving back—this is a true act of kindness and passion for humanity,” he said.
Mr. Odumbo also pledged that the donated items would be properly maintained and put to effective use, adding that he looked forward to future collaborations with the club.
The Eko Centennial Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International, a global service organization dedicated to humanitarian projects across health, education, and environmental sectors.
