Marital problems: Expert advises celebrities to seek help from marital professionals, court

An unknown author once said that ”A perfect marriage or relationship is just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other.”

However, this seems not to apply to some relationships especially among celebrities.

In the recent past, some celebrities have taken their marital crisis or breakups to the social media.

These celebrities include, Annie Idibia and Tuface, Rude boy Paul Okoye and wife Anita, Popular On air personality and Comedian Nedu and wife Uzoamaka, Actor Alex Ekubo and fiancee Fancy, Tonto Dikeh and ex lover Prince Kpokpogri.

Why are the marriages of celebrities crashing? Why are they quick to announce the break-ups on the social media?

Some cross section of people who spoke to our entertainment correspondent on the issue said ,its not only celebrities whose marriages were crashing but because they were in the spotlight people get to hear more about their breakups and for their fans to be carried along in their private lives

One of Africa’s creative event producer in the country, Mr. Brown Wilfred said why it seems the marriages of some celebrities do not last was that, they tend to put their day- to- day Private lives on social media thereby giving rooms for gossips.

Is the social media the first point of call for counselling in marriages that are experiencing difficulties?

A Certified and Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Relationship and Marital & Sex Therapist, Dr. Pamela Udoka said every marriages have its challenge but taking it to social media would only aggravate the matter.

Dr. Udoka however advised couples to take their marital issues to a professional third party, that is, going to a law court or seeking advice from a martial conflict expert.

However some respondents say though marriage has its own challenges, if it is not working out, it was better for the couples to go their separate ways before it results into violence.
