The Institute of Certified Business Consultants (ICBC) has described continuous coaching and mentorship as a lifeline for Nigerian entrepreneurs struggling to stay afloat amid economic uncertainty and rapid technological disruptions.
Speaking at the 2025 Induction Ceremony held in Lagos, Registrar of the Institute, Dr. Emmanuella Chinonye Nwankwo, said viable businesses are built on consistent guidance, especially as artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes global markets.
Dr. Nwankwo noted that with unemployment still high, ICBC remains committed to supporting business owners through mentorship, advisory services, and its monthly Lunch and Learn consulting series.
She added that beyond its members, the Institute trains artisans, small-scale entrepreneurs, and NYSC members to equip them with the skills needed to develop sustainable businesses.
Highlighting ICBC’s rapid expansion, she revealed that ICBC Nigeria oversees operations in six African countries and is working toward continent-wide growth within the next five years.
She stressed that integrity, excellence, and global relevance remain the core values expected of every consultant, especially in a period when Nigeria faces financial strain and a challenging business climate.
ICBC President and Country Representative, Emmanuel Utomi Ayele, advised the newly inducted consultants to build strong personal brands anchored on clarity, consistency, and competence.
The event also witnessed the unveiling of “The Certified Consultant, Volume One,” described as a practical resource for both emerging and established consultants across Africa.
Keynote speaker and former ICAN President, Dr. Ambassador Eyitayo Comfort Olujumoke, urged the inductees to be strategic, ethical, and solutions-driven, while the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) called on consultants to help curb the circulation of substandard goods through stronger industry guidance.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the ICBC Professional Business School and the presentation of certificates and awards to outstanding professionals.
