Normal operations have resumed at the Hajj and cargo terminals of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, following a resolution between the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and freight forwarders over the review of cargo port charges.
After negotiations, stakeholders agreed on a new charge of fifteen naira per kilogram, a compromise from the earlier proposed twenty naira and an increase from the previous seven naira rate.
The agreement was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the MMIA Terminal Two conference room and chaired by the Director of Cargo Development and Services, Mr. Lekan Thomas.
FAAN spokesman, Mr. Henry Agbebire, says the resolution underscores the importance of dialogue and partnership, noting that the new rate is expected to improve business operations while supporting the development of cargo infrastructure at the airport.
He adds that the authority remains committed to stakeholder engagement and the modernization of cargo facilities in line with safety and efficiency standards.
Meanwhile, Customs Licensed Cargo Agents have confirmed their return to work, expressing optimism about stronger collaboration to boost Nigeria’s air cargo sector.
