Muslim Groups Unite, Demand Urgent End to Gaza Genocide

A non-governmental organisation, Muslim Awareness International, MAI, along with other Muslim organisations, has called for peace, an end to genocide, and a resolution to the crisis in Gaza.

This appeal was made during a special prayer and celebration of their annual AQSA Day in the Ijesha area of Lagos State.

At the event, Islamic scholar Dr. Abdulahi Shuaib emphasised the urgent need for strong advocacy against the ongoing genocide in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of children, women, and the elderly.

He demanded peace for Palestine, explaining that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels, with rampant starvation and famine affecting a large portion of the population.

Dr. Shuaib urged the international community, governments, and civil society organisations to take action, support the victims and their families, address the humanitarian crisis, and unconditionally recognise Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly.

In his remarks, the Director of Muslim Awareness International, Mr. Abdul-Waheed Atoyebi stated that AQSA Day serves as a platform to advocate for the voiceless people of Palestine, who have suffered for many years.

He emphasised that the fight against genocide transcends religion because it is a matter of humanity.

Mr. Atoyebi called on Nigerian non-Muslims to join the fight against genocide and urged the government and world leaders to put an end to the massacres in Palestine.

He also urged the Nigerian government to discontinue any relations with Israel for economic and security benefits, and instead align with truth and history by supporting a ceasefire for the people of Gaza in Palestine.

A peaceful march advocating for Gaza and various prayer sessions were held for the people of Gaza and for the restoration of peace in Palestine and other crisis-ridden countries.
