NBCFAE Empowers Students in Lagos, Ogun

Sixty secondary school students in Lagos and Ogun states have been empowered to take up career in aviation.
The students between ages 11-17 were exposed to careers and opportunities in the aviation community at a 3-day programme put together by the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees, NBCFAE in Nigeria and the United States.

The 60 students were selected from ten schools in Ogun and Lagos States.

They engaged them in various activities that promote team work and professional aviators educated the students on air traffic control, airspace safety, aviation security, flying an airplane among others.

President, National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees in Nigeria, Mr. Amos Edino said, the 2022 Aviation Career Education Academy, ACE, camp is meant to impart knowledge, teach students about the industry and encourage them to take up career in aviation.

“We are investing in their future not giving them cash but giving them, knowledge, information, information and contacts and if you have those you go places”.

The National Vice President and Chairman, Northwest Region Education, Recruitment and Training of the body from the United States, Ejide Fashina and Bridget Turner said, this second year post COVID ACE camp was a huge success and look forward to in the future see them join the industry.

“We have empower 60 Nigerian students to pursue career in aviation”.

The Airport Manager, Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, Mrs. Victoria Shinaba while declaring the ACE Camp closed,  described the students as future aviators with the knowledge they been imparted.

Mrs. Shinaba represented by an  officer in the operations department, Mr. Gbolahan Ayenla commended the body for embarking on what she described as catch them young Program.

Climax of the three day programme was a visit to the runway, radar site, fire station, TRACON site, hangar and Control tower.
There were presentation of awards to those who excelled in the task given, gifts and Certificates of participation.
