NCAA Clears Enugu Air for Take-Off with Air Operator Certificate

Nigeria’s domestic aviation industry has recorded a fresh boost as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA has issued an Air Operator Certificate, AOC, to Enugu Air, clearing the airline to begin scheduled flight operations.

The certificate was presented at the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja, where the Director General, Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, described the development as another milestone in the effort to strengthen Nigeria’s air transport sector.

In a statement, he noted that while the certification process has been streamlined to support new entrants, airlines must still meet strict safety and operational benchmarks.

Captain Najomo commended the technical teams and the airline’s management for navigating the rigorous process of operational demonstrations, documentation reviews and regulatory evaluations.

For the airline, the moment marked the realization of a long-awaited goal.

Accountable Manager, Captain Tolu Ita, described the approval as a dream come true and thanked the regulator for its guidance throughout the demanding certification process.

Officials of the Enugu State Government also welcomed the development.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Obi Ozor, said the airline was conceived to improve connectivity for businesses and travellers, while Board Chairman Richard Agu assured regulators that the airline would strictly uphold safety and operational standards as it prepares to take to the skies.
