The Director General, Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority to strengthening passenger protection and tightening visa verification processes.
This is as part of efforts to promote safer and more accountable air travel.
Captain Najomo made this known while receiving a delegation led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of travel company, Mrs. Adenike Macaulay, during a courtesy visit to the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja.
He emphasized that while the NCAA remains committed to improving ease of doing business within the aviation sector, regulatory standards and consumer rights would not be compromised.
Speaking further, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr Michael Achimugu, reiterated the Authority’s enforcement of consumer protection regulations, noting that airlines and service providers must resolve passenger complaints and process refunds within the stipulated 14-day timeline.
He also linked the drive to the aviation reform agenda of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo.
Also lending her voice, the Director of Air Transport Regulation, Mrs. Olayinka Babaoye-Iriobe, commended the company’s contributions and urged sustained collaboration to build a more resilient and transparent aviation ecosystem.
Earlier, Mrs. Macaulay expressed concern over passengers who travel without valid visas and are subsequently denied entry, creating operational and financial challenges.
She sought closer data-sharing cooperation with the NCAA and reaffirmed company’s commitment to full regulatory compliance and improved service delivery.
Senior officials from both organisations were present at the meeting, which underscored growing collaboration between regulators and travel service providers to enhance passenger experience and industry accountability.
