The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has taken a significant step in promoting awareness and education on telecom issues among young Nigerians.
NCC officials visited the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camps in Keffi, Nasarawa State, and Paiko, Niger State, to sensitize corps members on various telecom-related matters.including Sensitization and Quiz Competitions.
During the visits, NCC officials engaged the corps members in interactive sessions, providing valuable insights into the telecom industry and its regulatory framework.
The Commission also organized quiz competitions on telecom issues, which drew enthusiastic participation from the corps members. Winners of the quiz questions were rewarded with exciting gift items, including power banks, airtime, and data subscriptions.
In addition to the sensitization and quiz competitions, the NCC donated three bags of rice (50kg) and three 25-litre containers of vegetable cooking oil to each of the NYSC camps in Nasarawa and Niger states. This gesture demonstrates the Commission’s commitment to supporting the youth and promoting their welfare.
In a remark, the Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Mrs. Freda Ruth Bruce-Bennett said the NCC’s visit to the NYSC camps was aimed at educating Corps Members and providing them with a deeper understanding of the telecom industry, its regulations, and its impact on society, raise awareness about the importance of telecom services and their role in driving economic growth and development, strengthen the relationship between the NCC and the NYSC, promoting collaboration and mutual understanding.

The NYSC State Coordinator in Nasarawa, Hajiya Salamatu Mohammed, expressed appreciation for the NCC’s visit, noting that the sensitization and quiz competitions would benefit the corps members greatly.
She also thanked the NCC for the donation, which would go a long way in supporting the corps members.
