The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Nigeria’s leading environmental non-governmental organisation, has appointed Kunle Olawoyin as its Director of Communications, Policy and Advocacy, effective March 2, 2026.
Olawoyin previously served as Head of the Media and Public Affairs Unit at the foundation from 2009 to 2015.
In his new role, he will lead the organisation’s communications, policy and advocacy agenda in support of NCF’s 2025–2030 strategic plan.
He is expected to work with various teams within the organisation to strengthen NCF’s public voice, influence environmental policy outcomes, and shape national and continental conversations on climate change, biodiversity conservation and environmental pollution.
A seasoned communications and advocacy professional, Olawoyin has extensive experience in managing strategic campaigns and influencing policy at both national and international levels.
A trained journalist, he began his career as a cub reporter at Rhythm 93.7 FM.
He later worked with National Interest Newspapers and National Mirror Newspapers, where he gained experience in reporting, editing and news production.
Before his latest appointment, Olawoyin served as Media and Communications Officer at Oxfam GB and Oxfam International.
He later joined Save the Children International, where he held several key positions including Media and Communications Manager for Nigeria, Regional Media and Communications Manager for West and Central Africa, and most recently Media Manager in the organisation’s Global Media Unit.
His work in these roles helped strengthen the visibility and impact of the organisations he served.
Olawoyin holds a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication from The Polytechnic Ibadan, a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from Lagos State University, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from National Open University of Nigeria, and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Nasarawa State University Keffi.
He also earned certificates in Advanced Writing and Reporting from Pan-Atlantic University, among other professional certifications.
The Director-General of NCF, Joseph Onoja, expressed confidence in Olawoyin’s ability to deliver in the new role.
“I have no doubt about Kunle’s capacity to meet this new challenge, given his depth of experience in communications, advocacy and campaigns, as well as his prior knowledge of NCF,” Onoja said.
He added that as the leading organisation in environmental conservation in Nigeria, the foundation requires committed and highly skilled professionals to increase the visibility of its impact, strengthen public engagement, and influence environmental policy across the country.
