Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have recorded a series of major drug seizures at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, intercepting narcotics concealed in shipments bound for international destinations.
In one operation, officers uncovered 12 parcels of cocaine weighing 2.8 kilograms hidden in the false bottom of food flasks scheduled for export to the United Kingdom on a Virgin Atlantic flight.
According to the spokesman NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi in a statement, three suspects, including two cargo agents and a freight forwarder identified as the sender, were arrested following coordinated investigations.
In a separate case at the airport’s import shed, officials intercepted 2.9 kilograms of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, concealed in snack packs arriving from the United States aboard a Delta Air Lines flight.
Two clearing agents were initially detained, while the consignee was later apprehended in a follow-up raid in Lagos.
Beyond the airport, NDLEA operatives also intercepted a truck along the Lagos-Badagry corridor carrying nearly 12,000 capsules of tramadol and hundreds of phenobarbital injections allegedly destined for Ghana, with two suspects taken into custody.
In a related operation on Lagos Island, authorities raided a residential building and recovered nearly 96 kilograms of skunk, reinforcing the agency’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking networks across the state.
