Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has strongly criticised the recent decision by the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to officially recognise a Palestinian state.
In a statement issued on Sunday during his visit to the United States, Netanyahu described the move as “an enormous reward for terror,” referencing the October 7 attack that deepened hostilities in the region.
He insisted that Israel would not permit the establishment of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River, arguing that such a development poses a direct threat to Israel’s security.
The Israeli leader disclosed that his government had resisted international pressure to concede Palestinian statehood and had instead expanded Jewish settlements in the West Bank, known in Israel as Judea and Samaria.
Netanyahu assured that Israel’s formal response to the recognition would be communicated upon his return from the US, stressing that his government remains determined to resist “any attempt to impose a terror state in the heart of our land.”
