New $300 Helicopter Landing Levy Aligned with Global Norms…says Ministry of Aviation

The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, says, the newly introduced $300 landing levy per landing for helicopters aligns with international norms, aims to enhance operational quality and recover costs. 

In a statement signed by the Head, press and public Affairs, Mr. Odutayo Oluseyi, called on stakeholders embrace this initiative for the industry’s advancement.

He said, the goal also serves to bolster capacity, efficiency, safety, security, and investment in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

According to him, this initiative, empowered by the 2022 amended Act, aims to balance revenue generation between upper and lower airspace, improving resources for aeronautical infrastructure, security, and surveillance. 

These levies, akin to practices in countries like the US, UK, and India, have been implemented worldwide, adding that, NAEBI Dynamic Concepts Limited has been granted exclusive rights to collect these levies under a memorandum of understanding with NAMA, FAAN, and NCAA. 

The ministry acknowledges the significance of helicopter operations in Nigeria’s aviation sector and vowed to enforcing global standards through the Nigeria Management Agency (NAMA).
