Oyeyemi Unveils Project 2027 Agenda for Institute of Logistics and Transport

Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi has been sworn in as the 21st President and Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria, unveiling an ambitious reform blueprint tagged Project 2027.

The Lagos investiture, which also featured the swearing-in of new council members, sets the tone for what Oyeyemi describes as a renewal moment for the 67-year-old institute.

Project 2027 aims to secure long-overdue legislative recognition for CILT Nigeria, giving it statutory power to regulate professional standards and strengthen its chartered status.

Oyeyemi outlined eight strategic pillars—membership growth, institutional reform, digital services, innovation, governance, inclusivity, and international leadership—designed to reposition the institute as a continental leader in logistics and transport.

Top government officials praised the new president’s vision.

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, lauded Oyeyemi’s expertise and called for deeper collaboration with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, stressed the need for the sector to embrace artificial intelligence, robotics, and multimodal transport systems to boost national development.

The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from distinguished guests, including Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, who expressed optimism that Oyeyemi’s leadership would usher in innovation.

In his investiture lecture, Prof. Kayode Oyesiku emphasized that CILT’s future success depends on integrity-driven leadership, advocacy, partnerships, and continuous professional development.

In her valedictory remarks, outgoing President Mrs. Mfon Usoro announced that CILT Nigeria now has 2,021 active members across various categories.

She highlighted achievements such as digitization, revamped conferences, and expanded collaborations, expressing confidence that Oyeyemi’s administration will consolidate these gains and propel the institute into a new era of growth.
