Nigeria Tightens Borders with New Immigration Reforms

The Current reform being introduced across the nation’s airports and borders will make it difficult for suspected criminals and those on wanted list to gain entry into Nigeria.
The Permanent secretary ministry of interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, made this known during the International roundtable on policy and governance reforms in Nigeria’s immigration and Border management sector programme held in Ikeja, Lagos.

Dr Ajani said that the on-going reforms would be extended to all the airport and land borders , noting that the nation needs the reform to tackle border challenges facing the country.
The Permanent Secretary pointed out that the Nigeria Immigration service and other sister agencies need more equipment to make the borders more effective, as the phase one is already completed covering about 1000 kilometers She said the phase 2 has been approved.

On her part, the Comptroller General Nigeria Immigration service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, said the new reforms will enhance national security, legitimate trade investment and tourism.

CG Nanna Nandap, represented by the ACG zone A ACG Mohammed Adamu noted that a safe border is a safe nation, and a smart border is a prosperous nation .

The President Nigerian American Chambers of Commerce, Alhaji Sheriff Balogun pointed out that that the passport issuance and processing reforms, now brings the services closer to Nigerians wherever they live.

Excellence Awards were presented to three distinguished individuals in the public sector by the Nigerian American Chambers of Commerce .
