The Cowpea and Beans Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria has denied allegations that beans are being preserved with cement.
The Association’s National President, Mr. Kabir Shuaibu, dismissed the claims while reacting to a viral social media video showing some boys mixing beans with a substance that appeared to be cement.
He stressed that no legitimate member of the Association would engage in such harmful practices, adding that farmers instead rely on safe, approved additives to protect stored beans from weevil infestations.
