Nigerian Delegation Participates in Ahmadiyya Islamic Convention in London

A high-level Nigerian delegation, led by the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, Barrister Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, has arrived in Surrey, United Kingdom, to attend the Annual Convention (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK.

The delegation comprises members of the National Executive Committee and leaders of auxiliary bodies within the Nigerian Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. Among them are Alhaji Dauda Raji (Head, Elders’ Group), Comrade Hassan Sunmonu (Chancellor, Minaret University, Ikirun), Professor Abdullah Abdul Rahman (Vice Chancellor, Minaret University), Professor Mashuud Fashola, former Amir Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria and now National Secretary External Affairs Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria and The Eesa of Ikirun land, Chief Adetoyese Lawal. Representatives of Nigerian media organisations—including the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and TVC Communications—are also part of the delegation.

A key highlight of the event will be the formal presentation of the operational licence for Minaret University, Ikirun—the first secular university established by the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Community—to His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the Fifth Khalifa and worldwide Head of the Community.

The Jalsa Salana is a unique global Islamic convention that brings together over 35,000 participants from more than 90 countries to deepen religious knowledge, foster spiritual growth, and promote peace in society.

Over the three-day convention, distinguished speakers will address various religious topics and their relevance in today’s world. Several international parliamentarians, diplomats, and civic leaders will also grace the event, aligning with its central theme of promoting unity, mutual understanding, and respect across faiths and cultures.

A special feature of the gathering is the presence of His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who delivers daily keynote addresses, offering invaluable spiritual guidance and practical insights into Islamic teachings.

The convention will climax on Sunday with a solemn Bai’at (oath of allegiance) ceremony, where thousands of Ahmadi Muslims will renew their commitment to serve Allah and the Community under the spiritual leadership of the Khalifa.

Also on Sunday, a Historical Panel Discussion on the Propagation of Islam will examine the contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to the global spread of Islam—from London to every continent.

Panellists include Dr. Qasim Akinreti (Chair, Ahmadiyya History Compilation Committee, Nigeria), Alyas Munir (Head, Ahmadiyya History Department, Germany), Naseer Dean (Naib Amir, UK), Raheel Ahmad (Head, History Desk, UK), and Yahya Luqman (Missionary, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA).

These contributors are deeply involved in compiling the historical narratives of the Ahmadiyya Movement across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States.
