The National Identity Management Commission has confirmed that its ward-level enrolment drive for the National Identification Number is progressing steadily across the country.
The decentralised registration exercise, which began in mid-February, allows citizens and legal residents to enrol for their NIN at designated centres within their respective wards, bringing identity services closer to communities nationwide.
The commission reiterated that the National Identification Number remains a key requirement for accessing essential government services in Nigeria.
It urged individuals who have yet to register to take advantage of the ongoing exercise.
Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, Kayode Adegoke, advised members of the public to check the commission’s official website to locate the nearest enrolment centre.
He also encouraged applicants to cooperate with officials, provide accurate information during registration, and follow NIMC’s verified communication channels for updates.
To streamline the process, the commission said pre-enrolment can be completed online before visiting physical centres, while data modification services are available through its self-service portal.
NIMC reaffirmed its commitment to achieving inclusive identity coverage nationwide and called on all eligible citizens and residents to participate in the ward-level registration drive.
