NSIA to establish more hospitals across the country

The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority is to increase its investment in healthcare across the country.

The Managing Director of the NSIA, managers of the Sovereign Wealth Fund, Mr. Uche Orji said one of its plans was to establish a Specialist quaternary Hospital in Abuja this year.

He said the feedback from the Diagnostic centers in Umuahia and Kano as well as the cancer center at LUTH, Lagos showed that patients had started accessing the services at a comparatively lesser cost.

Mr. Orji said the NSIA partnered with the University College London to develop a pharmaceutical investment strategy with a plan to develop active direct investment this year.

He said it had selected Ikot-Abasi as the location for its gas industrialization initiative for which it plans to spend one point four billion dollars.

He said NSIA also expects to complete concession, and operationalization of the three road projects, namely Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Second Niger Bridge and Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway.
