The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and Aero Contractors have solidified a strategic alliance through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant stride towards bolstering aviation safety standards in Nigeria.
This collaborative endeavour focuses on industry-led safety training, knowledge exchange, and human capital development, reinforcing Nigeria’s dedication to upholding global aviation safety benchmarks.
This agreement, according to the Director, Public Affairs Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji in a statement, executed in Lagos amidst key industry stakeholders, establishes a structured framework for training programs, technical collaborations, and resource sharing between the two organizations.
She stated that, NSIB’s Transportation Safety Officers and technical personnel will gain access to specialized on-the-job training utilizing Aero Contractors’ advanced facilities, including simulators and maintenance workshops.
Also Aero Contractors’ technical personnel will benefit from NSIB-led training in accident investigation and related disciplines, fostering a robust exchange of expertise.
Director-General of NSIB, Capt. Alex Badeh Jr emphasized the transformative nature of the MoU, stating its commitment to mutual growth and safety enhancement.
He stressed the development of customized training programs leveraging Aero Contractors’ state-of-the-art resources, aimed at equipping NSIB personnel with essential skills and practical experience.
Capt. Badeh also emphasized the reciprocal nature of the partnership, noting NSIB’s support for Aero Contractors’ personnel in accident investigation training, contributing to overall airspace safety.
Managing Director, Aero Contractors, Mr. Ado Sanusi reiterated the importance of safety within the aviation industry, emphasizing the company’s 60-year legacy of cultivating a strong safety culture.
He stressed the MoU’s commitment to investing in the future of Nigerian airspace safety through the sharing of expertise and technical knowledge.
The Aerocontractors boss also noted the role of on-the-job training in fostering continuous learning and professional development for NSIB personnel, utilizing Aero Contractors’ advanced facilities.
The MoU also facilitates joint conferences, symposiums, and workshops to promote best practices and explore emerging aviation trends, enhancing capacity across both workforces.
A Steering Committee, comprising representatives from NSIB and Aero Contractors, will oversee the implementation of the agreement, with provisions for periodic reviews to ensure its continued relevance.
