NUJ Lagos Set for 2025 Press Week, Unveils Week-Long Activities

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, has concluded preparations for its 2025 Press Week, scheduled to hold from Monday, November 24 to Sunday, November 30, 2025.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Unlocking Opportunities for Businesses in a Challenging Economy: The Role of the Media / Roadmaps to Energy Security in Nigeria.”Speaking in Lagos, the NUJ Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, said the annual Press Week offers journalists an opportunity to unwind, reconnect, and celebrate one another.“Journalists are hardworking people, and we should make out time to bond and celebrate one another. The Press Week is held once a year, and journalists should seize the opportunity to reconnect,” he said.

Programme of Events

The 2025 Press Week will open with a Health Walk on Monday, November 24. Journalists are expected to converge under the Ikeja Bridge by 7 a.m. The walk will be followed by various indoor games at the NUJ Secretariat.

The Press Week Lecture comes up on Wednesday, November 26, at the BOS Hall, LTV Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja, starting at 10 a.m. Captains of industry, media professionals, students of journalism, and well-wishers are expected to attend.

On Thursday, November 27, the union will host its Media Rendezvous from 4 p.m., featuring cultural displays, dancing and singing competitions, and activities aimed at strengthening camaraderie among chapels.

A Juma’at Service will be held on Friday, November 28, at the Lagos State Secretariat Central Mosque, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja. Later that evening, the Gala/Awards Night will hold at the BOS Hall, LTV Complex, where outstanding individuals and organisations will be honoured for excellence in their respective fields.

The week-long celebration will conclude on Sunday, November 30, with a Thanksgiving Service at the Chapel of Christ the Light, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja, beginning at 10 a.m.
