The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Lagos State has commended the State government for carrying out renovation work at the NYSC temporary orientation camp to further make the camp conducive for Corps members and NYSC camp officials as the 2026 Batch ‘A’ stream one orientation course begins across the country.
The Lagos State Coordinator, NYSC, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang gave the commendation at the swearing -in of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ stream one Corps members deployed to Lagos state, held at the NYSC temporary orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
She said that the ongoing renovation which was going to be carried out in phases had already given the camp a facelift.
She noted that some of the toilets, plumbing work and the camp hall which had not been in a good shape were already been renovated.
The Lagos State NYSC, Coordinator stressed that the renovation exercise would further enable the scheme to cope with the high number of Youths Corps Members being posted to Lagos State every year, while the scheme awaits the completion of the permanent orientation camp situated at Agbowa, in Ikorodu.
The NYSC boss in Lagos, however, announced that out of the Six thousand, six hundred and forty-eight Corps members deployed to Lagos State for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ stream one service year, only two thousand, seven hundred and seventy-three of them could be accommodated at the Lagos temporary orientation camp due to lack of space.
Mrs. Salmwang explained that other Corps members that could not be accommodated in Lagos were dislodged to Ekiti, Ondo, Kwara, and Ogun States for their orientation course.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Youths and Social Development, Mrs. Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu who represented Governor
Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the event urged the Corps members to seize the opportunities available in Lagos State being the commercial hub of the nation to make meaningful and lasting contributions to the lives of the people of the state and the nation at large.
Justice Anjorin Ajose later administered the Oath of allegiance on the Corps members on behalf of the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba.
The Corps members however, expressed their gratitude to the Lagos State government by giving three hearty cheers to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
