NYSC provides free healthcare to rural communities

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has launched a free medical outreach under its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers, targeting underserved communities in the Federal Capital Territory.

At the flag-off in Dutse Alhaji, NYSC Director General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, represented by Director of Planning and Statistics Alhaji Ahmed Ikaka, said the annual initiative, active since 2014, aims to tackle health challenges nationwide.

He noted the program spans all 774 local government areas, offering not just free treatment but also valuable health data for national planning.

NCDC Director General Dr. Olajide Idris, represented by Michael Okali, emphasized its role in addressing seasonal disease risks. Dutse Alhaji’s District Head, Alhaji Abubakar Bakko, thanked NYSC and urged residents to participate.

The two-day outreach includes health education, screenings, and treatment via a mobile clinic.
