The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, to continue fostering unity among traditional rulers in Yoruba-speaking states.
He made the call while hosting the Ooni at his private residence in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Oba Ladoja urged Yoruba monarchs to focus on strengthening cultural values and institutions that bind them together, rather than those that create division.
According to him, traditional rulers are looked up to not only for leadership but also for inspiration and protection.
In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife described Oba Ladoja as a father figure to all and noted that his ascension to the throne represents a turning point for Yoruba traditional leadership.
The Ooni further urged Oba Ladoja to remain vigilant against detractors, while calling on Yoruba monarchs to shun rivalry, backbiting, and unhealthy power struggles for the collective development of Yoruba land.
